A father’s mountain trip with his seven-year-old son turned into a nightmare. The man had to alert Italian rescuers on Saturday afternoon when he and the boy got into trouble on the way to the summit of Resegone, not far from the Swiss border.

The father said he and his son were hanging on a ledge on a steep wall and couldn’t see anything. He could neither go forward nor turn back with his frightened child.

When firefighters with a team from the Alpine River Cave Team reached the two, they were clinging to a rock in the Sermenati Gorge. The climbing route is recommended only for experienced climbers, reports “Corriere della Sera”.

Father took a big risk regarding his son!

The rescue helicopter freed the father and son from their predicament by having a rescuer lower himself using a winch. Once arrived, both hikers were tied up and taken to the helicopter. “The operation lasted two hours and was particularly complicated,” a firefighter said.

The father said he had taken the wrong route on the trip. The rescuer concluded that the man and his son had taken a great risk.
