An uproar at Blich High School in Ramat Gan following the visit of the chairman of Otzma Yehudit, Itamar Ben Gvir, to talk to the students, against the background of the long-standing tradition used in the high school to hold a panel or give a platform to political representatives in every election.
Even before Ben Gabir’s arrival at the high school, students from the school chanted to the left-wing protesters “May your village burn”, and later, when the chairman of Otzma Yehudit arrived, a riot broke out. Ben Gabir was surrounded by his supporters, who accompanied his visit with noise and commotion, and chants against the protesters were heard from the windows of the school’s classrooms When he took the stage in Bleach, the students rose to their feet and cheered him.
Following the arrival of Ben Gvir, as mentioned, “Noer Meretz” activists came to demonstrate in front of the high school. “Cohenism and racism are not legitimate views in the political system, they are violent concepts that threaten to destroy Israeli democracy,” they said. “Ben Gabir is not legitimate, boys and girls should not hear in their school horrible racism against Israeli Arabs, LGBT people and leftists – we are the children that Ben Gabir will expel.”
