JAKARTA – PT Indonesia Tourism Development or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation ( ITDC ) book debt Rp 4.6 trillion from the construction of The Mandalika project as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). One of these projects is the construction of the Mandalika Circuit.

“The development and development of this area requires a large amount of money and support from various parties, both the central government, the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government, the Central Lombok regional government, and related stakeholders,” said the Main Director of ITDC, Ari Respati in his statement, quoted, Saturday (17/6/2023).

In detail, the amount of debt is divided into two payment terms, namely short term or short term debt of IDR 1.2 trillion and long term or long term debt of IDR 3.4 trillion. He explained that the construction of The Mandalika area began in 2015-2020. In that process, ITDC has obtained funding support from the government through cash State Equity Participation (PMN) worth IDR 750 billion.

In addition, ITDC also received support from the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), Association of State Banks (Himbara) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) with a total loan of Rp 3.4 trillion that has been utilized.

He ensured that ITDC’s funding, which is sourced from bank loans, is currently still managed smoothly, because it is covered by The Nusa Dua’s source of income and the company’s other businesses.

To maintain ITDC’s business continuity and financial liquidity going forward, Ari said that his party would make business breakthroughs, such as optimizing assets with investment partners for some of the land whose status was changed to pure Building Use Rights (HGB), especially in The Nusa Dua.

ITDC is indeed trusted to accelerate the construction of The Mandalika, one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP). This project was built on an area of 1,174 hectares (ha).

The development of The Mandalika as an integrated tourism area begins with the construction of basic infrastructure in the form of regional access roads, Utility Ducts, Water Treatment Plants, Waste Water Treatment Plants, Electrical Networks and other supporting facilities, as well as Special Area Roads (JKK) or the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.

Regarding the Mandalika Circuit, it has been used for world-class motorbike racing events, namely World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP. Instead of being profitable, WSBK and MotoGP actually bring losses. However, Ari did not explain the loss caused by the two international racing events. Ari sees WSBK and MotoGP providing a multiplier effect for the community.

He detailed, the economic impact of MotoGP 2022 reached IDR 3.57 billion for the NTB economy and IDR 4.5 billion for the national economy. The holding of MotoGP 2022 recorded the number of spectators reaching 102,801 people, the employment of 4,600 people, the estimated audience spending of Rp. 545.22 billion, the turnover of audience money of Rp. 697.88 billion, MSMEs Rp. 23.08 billion. Even though there is a positive impact on the local economy, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney as the holding company of ITDC proposes that WSBK be abolished or deleted.
