The average monthly salary after deduction of employee taxes (net) in the Vilnius region amounted to 1,482 euros and compared to 2024 in the first quarter, increased by 0.9 percent. The highest gross salary – 2,501.1 euros – was received by employees of companies, institutions and organizations of Vilnius city municipality, their salaries exceeded the national average by 304.7 euros. Zarasai r. earned the least. employees of municipal companies, institutions and organizations – about 1,474.1 euros, their wages are 1,027 euros lower than those of Vilnius residents.

The highest – 2,423.3 euros – gross wages were received by employees of companies, institutions and organizations in Vilnius County. Employees of Utena county earned the least – 1,771.1 euros. As explained by the State Data Agency, changes in wages were influenced by seasonal fluctuations and other reasons.

Average monthly gross salary in 2024 in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter, it increased in 57 municipalities from 0.2 (Kupiškis district) to 7.6 percent. (Pagegiai), while it decreased in Skuodos r., Tauragės r. and Mažeikiai r. in municipalities, 0.1, 0.2 and 1.7 percent, respectively.

Compared to 2024 in the second quarter with 2023 in the same period, the average monthly gross wage grew in all municipalities from 2.5 to 16.1 percent. Such changes were influenced by the increase in the minimum monthly salary, the increase in the minimum official salary coefficients for employees of budgetary institutions, the change in the procedure for calculating the amount of tax-free income and other reasons.

The number of employees increased in forty-three municipalities

In the capital region, the average number of employees decreased by 0.5 percent during the quarter, while in the Central and Western Lithuania region, it increased by 0.7 percent. During the year, the average number of employees increased: in the capital region – 1 percent, in the Central and Western Lithuania region – 1.4 percent.

During the quarter, the average number of employees increased in 43 municipalities from 0.1 (Alytus city and Mažeikiai district) to 11.4 percent. (Neringa), the average number of employees in 15 municipalities decreased from 0.1 to 2.2 percent, in Kaunas. and Kėdainiai r. in the municipality – almost unchanged.

During the year, the average number of employees increased in 39 municipalities from 0.1 (Joniškis r. and Šilalė r.) to 9.1 percent.
