Jan Josef Liefers turns 59
Jan Josef Liefers was born on August 8, 1964 in Dresden, the son of the director Karlheins Liefers and the actress Brigitte Liefers-Wähner. The acting talent was put into his cradle.
Since he refused to join the People’s Army, he was not allowed to take his Abitur in the GDR and instead completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter at the Staatsschauspiel in Dresden and then studied at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin.
After reunification, he quickly gained fame throughout Germany in 1996 with his role in “Rossini – or the murderous question of who slept with whom”. Other films followed, such as “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “The Baader Meinhoff Complex”.

He is now best known for his role as pathologist Karl-Friedrich Boerne in “Tatort”. In addition to his acting career, he is also a successful musician with his band Radio Doria.
In spring 2023, he took part in the eighth season of The Masked Singer as a kangaroo.
In private, Liefers has been happily married to actress Anna Loos for almost two decades, with whom he has two daughters. Liefers has two other children from two previous relationships.
