The president of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, is currently in Israel and has already met with the country’s president Yitzhak Herzog, and with the prime minister-designate, Benjamin Netanyahu. Although the representatives of the parties have not yet finished submitting their recommendations to the president, and the new government has not yet been sworn in, the Cypriot president has not met with the incumbent prime minister, Yair Lapid, who heads the second largest party that has reached 24 seats.

Anastasiades is expected to receive the “President’s Medal”, which is awarded to a candidate or candidates who have made an extraordinary contribution to the State of Israel or to humanity, through their talent, service or in some other way. The decoration for the President of Cyprus will be awarded to him in a special ceremony this week. The Likud chairman announced that in his meeting with the foreign president, the two had an in-depth discussion on continuing to strengthen ties between the countries.
