Why no Paralympics?
The Paralympic Games are currently being held in Paris. However, the term Paralympics is spreading in the Bulgarian media, which is absolutely incorrect and is even subject to sanctions by the rights holders – the IOC and the BOC respectively.
The term paralympics is from the end of the last century and is to show the interaction between the Greek term para (disabled person) and olympiad. But the IOC wants the Olympics to be unique, and that’s why they removed the letter “o” from the name.
The term is also specified in the Law on Physical Education and Sports, which is currently in force. Here is what he says:

Section I.
Bulgarian Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Organization
Art. 32. (1) The National Paralympic Organization is an association with a non-profit purpose for carrying out a socially beneficial activity that meets the membership requirements of the International Paralympic Committee statute.
(2) The National Paralympic Organization develops the Paralympic movement, spreads Paralympic ideas in the country and organizes and coordinates the participation of athletes in the Paralympic Games.
(3) The National Paralympic Organization carries out its activities in accordance with the current legislation and the statute of the International Paralympic Committee.
(4) Paralympic symbols and signs may only be used with the permission of the National Paralympic Organization.
(5) The National Paralympic Organization represents the state and Bulgarian sports organizations before the International Paralympic Committee in matters related to the organization and conduct of the Paralympic Games and all events organized by or with the participation of the International Paralympic Committee.
Or in other words, such an animal as the Paralympics simply does not exist, no matter how hard some illiterate media try to use it.
