A weekend to forget the one that Marc Márquez is living in Assen. The man from Cervera continues to suffer on his RC213V and with his physique, especially with his ribs, which prevent him from riding comfortably on the bike. In the sprint race, the Spaniard finished in 17th position, almost 20 seconds behind Marco Bezzecchi.

In some statements after Saturday’s day at the Dutch Grand Prix, the Repsol Honda Team man assured that pain is being his great determining factor in the Netherlands: “I expected to start so far back, I already said it yesterday, I didn’t expect to improve much, so this morning I felt a little better. What happens is that it rains and it pours, we had a crash with very bad luck, it happened today and it will happen in the future. The blow on the ground has been strong, the rib has suffered more and I have decided to go out to the race to gain confidence. I suffered, I took the soft front and rear, it was the only way to gain confidence, I found a group that was going well at that pace and I finished the race, which is the important thing”

One of the images of the weekend was the accident suffered by #93 with Enea Bastianini in free practice on Saturday, in which the Spaniard acknowledged that it was his mistake and that something similar often happens: “Many times you have scares of this type and you dodge it at the last moment. Sometimes they touch in the pit lane, it’s a point where you go on full throttle. We both turned around because we knew that faster riders and slower ones would come. Just when I turned around, he cut the throttle and I hit him from behind.. It’s the fault of the one who gives from behind, like on the street and I have to assume it. It is an unfortunate move.”

“On a mental level it is the hardest moment of my sports career, leaving aside the injury”, commented with frustration Marc Márquez, who claimed to be looking forward to the holiday break to recover well: “It’s time to keep working, strength and sacrifice and tomorrow finish the race. Then a week and a half on the beach to relax and reflect. Afterwards, having my mind in Silverstone and being physically better”.

Joan Mir’s teammate has indicated that in a situation like his it is difficult to remain calm, although he tries with the ambition of solving his problems on the bike: “When you compete, you always have to be completely focused. Of course it is difficult to fight with the balance of the bike, with the electronics. It is possible to try to run calmly even in a scenario like this, you just need to be aware of the decisions you make.”

Finally, the Catalan rider has indicated that his intention is to focus on his adaptation to the Honda and continue to improve, especially now that due to the rib injury he is unable to train as he would like due to the problems with his arms: “I compete for myself. The problems are the same on this bike, we know them well. The fact is that running with broken ribs is very difficult, if it was just the finger it would be different. Instead, I couldn’t train well with my arms, they hurt and this doesn’t allow me to ride as I would like. Tomorrow he will do more physiotherapy, I will try to be close to the best”, concluded Marc Márquez.
