The climber from the Cofidis team is taking part in her second Tour de France this year. Every evening, after her stage, “Libé” backpedals with her. Today, the last stage, a 22 kilometer time trial in Pau.

For the second consecutive summer, Morgane Coston is taking part in the Grande Boucle. A biology teacher, the 32-year-old runner put her job aside two years ago to devote herself fully to cycling. Every evening for a week, the climber from the Cofidis team tells Libé about her Tour stage. This Sunday, July 30, for the last stage, she finished the time trial in Pau in 101st place. She finished the Tour 74th, more than an hour behind the yellow jersey Demi Vollering.

“The principle of the time trial is still very difficult. Only specialists and those who do it regularly can really be comfortable with this kind of exercise. Personally, I have a lot of trouble running against myself. On this kind of stage, I don’t really have a goal. I was not a specialist, I had no stake in the general and I knew that I would not win the stage.

“Overall, my Tour is mixed. I’m very frustrated because I didn’t enjoy this race. I was very scared in the peloton, I stayed at the back very often, I was afraid of falls, descents, I was not comfortable at all. It’s the toughest race in the world for sure. And I think we see the leaders a lot on TV but we don’t realize that behind there is about half of the peloton who are suffering a lot. I’m part of.

“I don’t have fun on the Tour de France, in no Tour de France have I had a blast. I don’t really like this race. I find it too special, too stressful, too nervous, with too many challenges and pressure. It is not the race that I prefer and not the one in which I can express myself.
