BUNIA – The ADF rebels have once again ‘distinguished’ themselves in their terrorism in the east of the DRC. This time it is the province of Ituri in Irumu territory which lost at least 11 people in the Walese Vonkutu chiefdom following attacks by Ugandan ADF/MTM rebels.
The villages of Mambelenga, Ndimo and Idohu were targeted on the evening of Sunday September 17 and the morning of Monday September 18, 2023.
According to information from the Convention for the Respect of Human Rights (CRDH Irumu), the first attack targeted the Ndimo village, nearly 40 kilometers from the town of Komanda on national road No. 4. On Monday September 18, the villages Idohu and Mambelenga were targeted, confirmed Christophe Munyanderu, former coordinator of CRDH Irumu.
According to the same source, 8 ADF MTM rebels and 3 civilians were killed, while another rebel was killed in Ndimo and 7 others in Idohu. In Mambelenga 3 civilians lost their lives and several others were kidnapped by the attackers.
There was also material damage, several houses were set on fire.
