The consumer organization Facua has compared how much it costs to pass the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) in each community and assures that we can find differences of up to 251.6% in the rates for passenger cars with gasoline engines and 347. 8% in diesels. The average price in the seventeen communities currently is 35.23 euros for gasoline passenger cars and 42.76 euros for those equipped with a diesel engine.
In both cases they are averages below those marked last year (2.7% in the first case and 2.7% in the second), due to the discounts established in 2023 in the Valencian Community (where it has been eliminated the noise test and the Generalitat has recovered the service after years of privatization) and Extremadura, where the regional government discounts half the cost. Faced with these decreases, the greatest increase has occurred in La Rioja with 14.2%, followed by Castilla y León (8.9%) and Euskadi, Ceuta and Aragón (7.3% in the three cases).
According to its comparison, which includes 21% VAT but not the Traffic rate established at 4.18 euros for all inspections, Madrid, where the service is liberalized and rates are set without regional regulation, is the territory with the price highest MOT for gasoline passenger cars: 51.44 euros on average. They are followed by Euskadi with 50.91 euros (which repeats in second position), and Ceuta (50.14 euros), which also occupied third place in 2022. The lowest price is in Extremadura, where there is a mixed model and thanks to The 50% bonus is only paid 14.63 euros at Administration stations and 18.58 at private stations.
If, on the other hand, we have a diesel vehicle we would pay 53.15 euros, a figure below what is paid in Cantabria (57.42), Ceuta (63.66) and Madrid (65.51). In this case too, Extremadura is the cheapest with the same cost as when we talk about gasoline vehicles.
