As European cities become increasingly demanding in terms of emissions and size restrictions, manufacturers must develop models that adapt to the new reality. On the one hand, the trend for light electric quadricycles is growing – Renault presented one this week – which are easy to park and have adequate autonomy for urban travel.
On the other hand, brands like Iveco, which dominate large segments, do not have a range of small vans for cities. For this reason the Italian company collaborated with Hyundai to create eMoovy and distribute it in the community market.
The eLCV platform, built by Hyundai, features its own electric technology, including the battery management system, as well as the suspension system designed to support batteries and heavy loads. The eMoovy offers a load capacity of up to 10 m3 in volume and up to 1.5 tons.
Luca Sra, President of the Iveco Group Truck Business Unit, said: “eMoovy is the first completely new vehicle born from our partnership with Hyundai, demonstrating our shared commitment to zero-emission mobility. With it we enter a new segment and represent a step forward in our partnership, as we continue to leverage our technical knowledge to accelerate the transition to zero emissions.”
This vehicle features a 160 kW (215 HP) electric motor, the most powerful in its category, and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The eMoovy is available with two battery packs of 76 kWh and 63 kWh capacity, with a autonomy of 320 km for the larger one. Furthermore, it has fast charging up to 350 kW, which allows it to recharge up to 100 km in less than 10 minutes, and counterbalances its decent autonomy.
eMoovy features Vehicle to Load, which provides 230V AC power to power equipment and tools or for use by bodybuilders to power refrigerated units. It also comes with an adapter for the charging socket located at the front of the vehicle and can be used as a power source.
The van complies with the next stage of GSR regulations in advance and comes with safety systems as standard. The vehicle is equipped with 4 airbags, and the entire structure has been tested to ensure a high level of protection, for passengers and for the battery.
Standard ADAS systems include Intelligent Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Prevention Assist, Junction Turning Assist or Advanced Driver Distraction Warning.
At the moment Iveco has not confirmed the price of the eMoovy in Spain, but it will begin to be sold in 2025. Predictably, since it is a lower model than the electric Daily, which starts from 70,000 euros, the amount will be lower.
