The FC Metz defender signed up with the Hungarian club this Thursday.

Ivorian international midfielder from FC Metz Habib Maïga is leaving the Moselle club for Ferencvaros, in the Hungarian championship, the Lorraine club announced Thursday evening. Arriving in Moselle in the summer of 2018, Maïga (13 caps) played 140 matches with FC Metz, scoring seven goals. But his playing time has diminished: he has only played seven ends of matches this season.

Highly appreciated in the locker room “for his unifying side and his talents as an animator”, according to the garnet club, Maïga, trained at AS Saint-Étienne, participated in two climbs to Ligue 1, in 2019 and last June.

Ferencvaros is still qualified for the Europa Conference League, where he must face the Greek Olympiakos next month in the play-offs to reach the round of 16.
