Gaël Faye, Kamel Daoud and Olivier Norek are part of the first selection of novels for the Renaudot prize revealed on Wednesday September 4, after they were also in the Goncourt prize. They signed a series for this literary return Jacaranda, Hour etc The Winter Warriors. This first selection includes 18 novels, including only three written by women. One of them, that of Hemley Boum, stands out apparently not at the time of this writing, but in January.

The “essays” selection includes 11 titles, some of which are stories, including one illustrated, by Frédéric Pajak on Nietzsche and music. Among the novels, those by Étienne Kern, Philippe Jaenada and Thibault de Montaigu were also selected by the first 16 titles in the run for Goncourt.

Renaudot’s prize must be awarded on November 4, at Drouant’s restaurant in Paris, just after Goncourt, as tradition dictates. Before that, the second selection was scheduled for October 3, then the third on October 24.

The jury keeps the same 10 members as in 2023, with others the 2008 Nobel Prize winner, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, and Georges-Olivier Châteaureynaud as secretary general.
