Beloved Soap Actor Jack Axelrod Dies at 93

Jack Axelrod, the actor best known for his role as Victor Jerome on the ABC soap opera General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 93. Multiple reports indicate that Axelrod died on Nov. 28 of natural causes in Los Angeles.

Axelrod appeared on General Hospital for 40 episodes between 1987 and 1989. His career also included guest appearances on popular TV shows like Kojak, Hill Street Blues, Dallas, Dynasty, and Night Court, among others.

“I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with him in his last years, as he had no immediate family,” representative Jennifer Garland said in a statement to EW. “We spent much time outdoors, where Jack loved to sketch, read news articles, and recite Shakespearean sonnets.”

Following his stint on General Hospital, Axelrod went on to appear in various television shows, including Knots Landing, Murphy Brown, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Star Trek: Voyager. He also landed a recurring role in the short-lived The WB sitcom The Help in 2004.

Axelrod’s film credits include roles in Hancock, Little Fockers, Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Bad Therapy, and his last television credit was in Modern Family in 2019.

Axelrod will be remembered for his prolific and diverse career in both television and film, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
