The successful Californian actor Jack Blackrecognized, among other things, for his role in the film School of Rock (2003) by Richard Linklater, made public through his social networks the indefinite pause of the musical project Tenacious Das well as the cancellation of the tour, due to the unfortunate comments made by Kyle Gass last Sunday during a performance.

“I was blindsided by what was said on Sunday’s show. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer believe it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. “I thank the fans for their support and understanding,” wrote Black, who together with Gass makes up the band created in 1994.

During the night of last Sunday, July 14, one day after the attempted assassination of the former president and now candidate for the presidency of the United States, Donald TrumpJack Black finished singing the mañanitas to Kyle Gass and invited him, on stage, in front of thousands of people, to make his birthday wish, to which Gass responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time”, referring to the shots fired at the politician during the attack.

It happened at a concert that the group offered in Sydney, Australia where Glass was celebrated while the show was going on, cake and, as already mentioned, morning songs included. As a result, the Australian senator Ralph Babet issued a statement condemning the incident and calling for the immediate deportation of the American band. Taking advantage of the incident, it called for the actors’ visas to be revoked.

For his part, after the message issued by Black, amidst the accusations that thus applaud and criticize the decisions of the members of Tenacious DKyle Gass issued the following message this morning:

“That line I improvised on stage on Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and I consider it a huge mistake. I do not condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy and I am truly sorry for my poor judgment. I offer a profound apology to those I have disappointed, and I am truly sorry for any pain I have caused.”

So far, neither of the two members have issued any further statements. They are only open to public scrutiny given the relevance of the matter. For now, the only certainty is that Tenacious D is on an indefinite hiatus.
