Jack Black cancels Tenacious D tour over Trump comment…

Musician and actor Jack Black has announced that future joint creative plans have been put on hold for the time being. He also doesn’t think it’s appropriate to continue with Tenacious D’s tour.

American musician and actor Jack Black has canceled the current tour of his band Tenacious D due to a statement made by his band member Kyle Gass about the assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump. “After much consideration, I feel it is not appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and all creative plans for the future are still on hold,” Black wrote on Instagram.

At the duo’s performance in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, Black asked Gass to make a wish. He then replied: “Please don’t miss Trump next time.” Trump was wounded in the ear in an assassination attempt at the weekend. A gunman opened fire at a campaign event in the US state of Pennsylvania, killing onlookers.

Black was “surprised”

Gass’ statement caused much controversy and was heavily criticized from many quarters. “I was blindsided by what the Sunday show had to say,” Black wrote. “I would never condone hate speech or political violence of any kind.” Gass apologized via Instagram: the sentence was “completely inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.”

Black formed Tenacious D in the late 1990s, who is also successful as an actor and comedian, and Gass. On the current tour, the band wanted to play in Australia and New Zealand during July; (APA)
