Katie Kim (Awkwafina) moves to the City of Angels and receives a winning ticket by mistake. A good level of shots
The production of the first minutes of the film is terrible, mainly because of the rough and jerky editing. But it is better to do it later. In the end, “Jackpot!” » is entertaining, very funny and funny. Actors – in particular Awkwafina (“The Farewell”, “Jumanji: Next Level”, “Kung Fu Panda 4”) and John Cena (“The Marine”, “Bumblebee”, “Barbie”) – for a convincing performance.
But, in this dystopia, the scenes are sometimes bleak and dull. One of the heroes, a very muscular forty year old, arrives, all smiles and without seeing the least problem, behind the wheel of a stolen car, to help a young woman in distress. The same girl who wants, moreover, to become an actress to make her mother proud, from whom she is a stranger.
We at least avoid the clichés of shooting in all directions. And for good reason: in the rules involved in the film, to bag the jackpot, it is forbidden to use weapons. That’s already there… Paul Feig has created a movie that is animated but caricatured, amusing but awful.
