The budget for the year 2022 of the Jaffna Municipal Council, which is under the control of the Tamil National People’s Front, was presented by the Chief Minister, Attorney-at-Law Viswalingam Manivannan today.
In this situation 10 members of the Tamil National People’s Front, 10 members of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party, 2 members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, 24 members each voted in favor of the United National Party and the Tamil Liberation Alliance, while 16 members of the Tamil National Alliance and the Tamil National People voted in favor. 3 members of the Front and 2 members of the United National Party voted against 21 members.
Thus, the budget of the Jaffna Municipal Council for the year 2022 has been passed by 3 votes.
The 45-member Jaffna Municipal Council has 16 members from the Tamil National Alliance and 13 members from the Tamil National People’s Front.
The Eelam People’s Democratic Party has 10 members, the United National Party has 3 members, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has 2 members and the Tamil Liberation Alliance has one member.
