Chennai: A lawyer has issued a notice to actor Surya and director TJ Gnananel seeking Rs 5 crore for alleged caste abuse in ‘Jai Bhim’. The notice was sent by the state president of Vanniyar Sangh. The producer needs to apologize for misrepresenting the community.

They want to transfer Rs 5 crore within seven days of receiving the notice. The policeman who tortured Rajakannan was portrayed as a member of the Vanniyar caste. But in the real incident, the policeman is a Christian named Antony Samy.

The notice states that the film deliberately used the calendar with the Vanniyar gang’s symbol and tried to defame the community.

Actress Jyothika, who is also Surya’s wife, has also sent notices to Surya and Jyothika’s production company 2D Entertainment and an Amazon Prime representative. Surya appeared in the film as a lawyer fighting for the rights of the tribal community.
