Palakkad: An employee of a ‘Supply Co’ shop who took a bribe was caught red-handed and jailed.
Manikandan, 38, who works as an assistant salesman at the ‘Supply Co’ store operating under the Public Distribution Department in Vadavanur, Palakkad district. Vishnu Prasad, an employee of the Ernakulam-headquartered spice company met him in person and requested permission to sell their company’s products in the store.
Manikandan said that he would buy goods worth Rs 14,000 and asked for a bribe of Rs 1,400. Subsequently, Vishnu Prasad filed a complaint in Palakkad anti-bribery department. On the advice of the authorities, yesterday, he was caught while paying a bribe. He was arrested, produced in court and imprisoned.
