Jaipur, Rajasthan – Rising badminton star padmaja Singh delivered a stunning performance at the Shri O N Dixit Memorial Winter District Badminton tournament, claiming an remarkable seven titles at the Sawai mansingh Indoor Stadium. Several other players also showcased exceptional talent, securing multiple championships in the week-long competition.

Padmaja Singh’s Reign Supreme

Padmaja Singh’s dominance was the defining feature of the tournament. She concluded the competition with a flourish, easily winning both of her finals matches.In the U-15 girls singles final, she defeated Aaradhya Dhingra with a decisive score of 21-9, 21-10. She further cemented her position by winning the women’s singles, overcoming Ojaswita 21-12, 21-12.

Triple Crown Victories for Poonia, Yogi, and Sharma

While Padmaja Singh’s performance was exceptional, she wasn’t the only athlete to shine. Tejeshwar Poonia, Nikhil Nath Yogi, and Advita Sharma each secured a “triple crown,” demonstrating their versatility and skill across multiple categories. Their achievements underscore the growing depth of badminton talent in the region.

Key Match Results and Tournament Highlights

The final day of the tournament featured a full slate of matches, including both finals and veteran competitions. In a thrilling men’s singles final, Tejeshwar Poonia showcased his skill, defeating Ayush Yadav 21-7, 21-18 to claim the championship.

The U-17 boys doubles saw a remarkable comeback from Aryan Singh and Akshat Shekhawat,who overcame a first-game loss to beat Dinesh Choudhary and Vinay Pratap 18-21,21-16,21-12 in a hard-fought three-game match.The U-19 girls doubles final saw Advita and Garima Yadav triumph over Angel and Varsha Singh 21-9, 23-21.Ansh Katara and Himanshu Gupta secured the men’s doubles title,defeating Aryan Singh and Akshat 21-16,21-16.

Scholarships and Recognition for Emerging Talent

The Jaipur District Badminton Association (JDBA) recognized outstanding players with the Shanti Mehta Scholarship, established by JDBA president Anil Mehta. Padmaja Singh, Tejeshwar Poonia, Satyam Gurjar, Aaradhya Dhingra, and Varsha Singh were awarded scholarships, with three players receiving Rs 21,000 and two receiving Rs 11,000. Additionally, 20 young players and 10 senior players were honored by the Justice narendra Kumar Jain Foundation Trust for their exceptional performance.

Distinguished Guests and Closing Remarks

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including principal Director of Income tax Inquiry Awadhesh Kumar, retired chief justice NK Jain, General Manager of NABARD Nikhil Pandey, former minister Mahesh Joshi, and JDBA secretary Manoj Dasot. Members of the Dixit family – SN Dixit, PN dixit, Rachna Dixit, and Pakaj Dixit, son of ON Dixit – were also present to honor the tournament’s namesake.

JDBA president Anil Mehta expressed his gratitude to the players, their families, spectators, and officials at the conclusion of the programme. Several other individuals, including alka Batra Lohia, Sanjeev Tiwari, anshul Jain, Yogendra Kaushik, Ramesh Arora, Suresh Kumar, Mudit Jain, and Gaurav Jain, were also in attendance. During the ceremony, referee KK Mathur, Jagdish Khatri, umpire Dharamraj, and match controller Pankaj Saini were felicitated for their contributions.
