jpnn.com – RANGE OF BITUNG – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle has not yet decided to nominate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok or Anies Baswedan as a gubernatorial candidate for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election.
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that who will be nominated will be decided by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.
“We are currently still considering it and the one who will decide on the candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta will be Megawati Soekarnoputri,” said Hasto after attending the book review of “The Redness of Bung Karno’s Teachings” at the Multatuli Museum Building, Rangkasbitung, Lebak, Friday (16/8).
PDIP’s experience in building democracy is based on grassroots aspiration movements that cannot be blocked by the fortresses of power.
This is what PDIP is observing and in deciding on the candidates for governor of DKI Jakarta and governor of Banten, they are still prioritizing grassroots movements.
“We leave all regional head candidates to the people or grassroots movements,” said Hasto.
According to him, the registration of regional head candidates will be on August 27-29, 2024, so that PDIP sees the momentum of the people’s movement. (between/jpnn)
