Jalen Williams Stretchered After Leg Injury in Thunder-Clippers Game

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher after suffering a severe lower left leg injury late in the fourth quarter during a 108-101 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night, October 25, 2026, at Paycom Center.

The incident occurred with 1:14 remaining in regulation when Williams drove toward the basket from the left wing and was met by Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. at the rim, while guard Kris Dunn closed in from behind. Williams landed awkwardly under the basket, his left leg folding underneath him in a sequence that left his foot bending outward at an unnatural angle. Medical personnel rushed to the floor immediately, draping towels over his leg as teammates and opposing players reacted in dismay. The game was halted for approximately five minutes before Oklahoma City closed out the 108-101 victory.

Paycom Center Falls Silent as Teammates React

The atmosphere inside Paycom Center changed instantly as players from both benches turned away in visible distress. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander covered his mouth and leaned toward his jersey near the floor, while Chet Holmgren and Ajay Mitchell covered their eyes. Isaiah Hartenstein pulled a towel over his face and walked toward the tunnel, and Rui Hachimura placed his hands on his head behind the stanchion.

As athletic trainers and medical staff tended to the fallen guard, the arena fell quiet before fans began chanting his name. Seated upright on the stretcher as medical personnel wheeled him toward the locker room, Williams raised both arms to salute the 18,203 fans in attendance with two thumbs-up signals.

I just feel bad for him. Nothing more than that. … It’s obviously gonna be tough without a player like that. But he’s not gone forever, he’ll be back better than ever and we know it. We’ve just gotta hold the fort down until he comes back.

Referee crew evaluations following the play resulted in Dunn being assessed a Flagrant 1 foul for his involvement in the collision. Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault told reporters after the final buzzer that the team was scheduled to be briefed Monday morning with official updates on Williams’ condition, noting that no immediate medical diagnosis was available on the floor.

We’re not doing great.

Williams Signs Rookie Max Extension After Championship Season

The setback arrives as a severe blow to an Oklahoma City squad that entered the season as preseason favorites to win the title. Williams was limited to 33 regular-season games and five playoff appearances during the previous campaign while recovering from right wrist surgery and managing hamstring strains. He signed a five-year rookie max extension in July 2025 worth up to $287 million following an All-Star season that included an All-NBA Third Team selection and an NBA championship.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt posted on social media after the game that the entire city would hold Williams in their thoughts and prayers as he faces this adversity and moves through recovery. Justin Martinez covers the Thunder and NBA for The Oklahoman, noting the player’s career statistics of 250 games played, 18.0 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game. Before exiting Sunday’s matchup, Williams contributed eight points, five assists, and two rebounds while shooting 3-for-8 from the field. Gilgeous-Alexander finished the game with 34 points, six rebounds, and five assists, leading the team alongside their undefeated start to the 2026-27 season.

Multiple Roster Losses Stretch Thunder Depth

Williams was not the only player to exit Sunday’s contest early. Guard Cason Wallace left in the first quarter with left shoulder soreness, while forward Jaylin Williams also exited in the opening period due to right wrist soreness.

Oklahoma City is set to host the Phoenix Suns at Paycom Center on Monday night, October 26, at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local) in the second game of a back-to-back.
