Madurai District Palamedu Jallikattu competition started at 8 am. The jallikkattu competition which was held in Avanyapuram yesterday started today at Palamettu with much fanfare. Finance Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan flagged off the jallikkattu competition. The javelin throw match started at 8 am and ended at 5 pm.
701 bulls were fielded in today’s javelin throw competition. 650 cowboys took part in suppressing those bulls. Many were still injured today despite security arrangements being intensified. During today’s match, 14 of the players who suppressed the bulls were injured.

Similarly, 10 persons including 10 cow owners and 2 persons including Usilampatti taluka policeman Gopinath, Madurai Armed Policeman Velmurugan and 12 spectators were injured.
Eleven of the seriously injured were rushed to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital for further treatment. The first prize car was given to the bull from Sivagangai who played well in today’s match and intimidated the players. Cowboy Prabhakar topped the list with 21 bulls. He was gifted a two-wheeler
