James Cameron and Wife Suzy Amis List $33 Million Oceanfront Ranch in Southern California

James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis Cameron, known for their involvement in the film industry, have listed their oceanfront ranch in Southern California for a whopping $33 million. The property, named Tranquility Base, is situated on 102 acres in the exclusive gated neighborhood of Hollister Ranch on Santa Barbara County’s Gaviota Coast.

The estate was originally purchased by Cameron in 1999 for $4.37 million, and it has undergone extensive renovations since then. The main residence spans 8,000 square feet and features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a theater, exercise room, game room, and two executive offices. The property also includes a 2,000 square-foot guest house, two barns, a ranch office, and a tennis court and swimming pool.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cameron revealed that he drew inspiration from the ocean views while writing parts of his blockbuster movies “Avatar” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” from his upstairs office overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Cameron and his wife currently reside mainly in New Zealand but originally purchased the ranch to retreat to a more rural setting from their Malibu compound.

The property is a nature lover’s paradise, with its private well, sumptuous vegetable gardens, and numerous varieties of fruit trees. Additionally, the ranch boasts a 24,000 square-foot equestrian barn with horse stalls and paddocks, making it an ideal home for horse enthusiasts.

Cameron and Suzy have taken great care in remodeling the main house, incorporating quartzite floors and refurbishing the home’s original woods. According to Cameron, they wanted to create a space that felt connected to the land and away from the busy world.

The estate’s lagoon-style pool and spa, surrounded by palm trees, have a Hawaiian resort ambiance, according to Cameron. The property is also environmentally conscious, featuring solar-powered energy with a wind generator and ample energy storage.

Despite their successful careers in the film industry, Cameron and Suzy have also prioritized self-sustainability and growing their own organic food. They have cultivated their gardens on the estate and consider it a crucial aspect of securing their family’s well-being.

If ever faced with a global catastrophe, Cameron believes Tranquility Base would serve as a safe haven. “In terms of short-term shocks, where you do want to make sure that your family’s secure, this would be a good place to weather a storm,” he said.

The listing is being handled by Emily Kellenberger of Village Properties/Forbes Global Properties and Jeff Kruthers of Hollister Ranch Realty. With its breathtaking location, luxurious amenities, and connection to nature, this oceanfront ranch is sure to attract interest from potential buyers willing to invest $33 million for a slice of Southern California paradise.
