It took 13 years for the next part of this director who got the attention of the people with the first part of the film released in 2009. During a recent interview, James Cameron talked about Matt Damon. Matt Damon, who played the lead role in the 2009 film Avatar, has refused to act in its second part. James Cameron said of his rejection that he “regrets the loss of this opportunity”.

It was only after Matt Damon turned it down that newcomer Sam Worthington was offered the role. As Matt Damon was acting in another movie at the time, James Cameron turned down the offer.

At the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, Cameron wanted Damon to star in the film and made a deal to pay 10% of the film’s box office profits, according to a report. Avatar grossed over $2.9 billion worldwide, which would have earned Damon $250 million (Rs 2000 crore).

James Cameron had said that you will never see an actress who turned down such a big money gain. And when asked if Matt Damon will be given a chance in the next part of Avatar, he said that he will definitely be given a chance but that 10% share will definitely not be available.
