This Monday the death of the renowned actor James Earl Jones, who gave voice to some of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema, like Darth Vader in Star Wars and Mufasa in The Lion King.

The artist, One of the most influential African-American actors, he made his Broadway debut in 1958 at the Cort Theatre, and made the leap to film in 1964 with Stanley Kubrick in Dr. Strangelove, after which he appeared in more than 80 films.

Among his most famous roles are the villain in Conan the Barbarian, starring in Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner, while in Our Gang He was the owner of the dog that chased the boys, along with being King Jaffe Joffer in Coming to America.

But he achieved the greatest recognition as the voice of Darth Vader in the saga of Star Wars and like Mufasa, Simba’s father in The Lion King, through which he passed into posterity.

James Earl Jones’ accolades include winning two Emmys in 1991, an honorary Oscar in 2011, a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award in 2017, and a Grammy in 1977, making him one of the few actors to win an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony).
