In December 2015, a few days before the end of the year, he died Lemmy Kilmistercomposer, bassist and leader of the British band Motörhead, pillar of English heavy metal of the eighties and until posterity. After his death, he was cremated, and his ashes, therefore, protected.
However, with the same peculiar style of his life, over the years some of his friends and colleagues began to receive bullets with the name of the vocalist engraved on the visible side, which instead of gunpowder or something else, kept a portion of the ashes of the vocalist originally from Burslem. One of those who received this representative present was James Hetfield.
And the name of the latter stands out not only for being the vocalist of one of the most important bands in the world. thrash United States, Metallicabut also because Hetfield adored Kilmister (already Motörhead) and, as a consequence of this and a fruitful friendship, he got, using Lemmy’s ashes, a tattoo in his honor.

It was James himself, through Metallica’s Instagram account, who made the news of the tattoo public, posing in the purest style of the middle finger pointing to the sky, but accompanied by the bullet with the name of Lemmy and some lines that read the following:
“With the firm hand of my friend and tattoo artist @coreymillertatto, this tattoo. To the health of my friend and inspiration, Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. Without him, there probably would NOT be Metallica.
“Black ink mixed with a little of the ashes from his cremation that were given to me with great gratitude.
“This way, he will be able to continue giving the finger to the world.”
The tattoo, located on the middle finger is, of course, an ace of spades wrapped in one of the symbols related to Motörhead. The reference, needless to say, draws from the English band’s iconic song, “Ace of Spades.”
