Jamie Foxx triggered a shitstorm with an Instagram post. He was accused of anti-Semitism. Now the actor has explained his choice of words and apologized.

“They killed this guy called Jesus. What do you think they’re going to do to you?” actor Jamie Foxx wrote in an Instagram post. To do this, he provided the hashtags #fakefriends (in English: false friends) and #fakelove (in English: false love). The post triggered a shitstorm. The accusation: anti-Semitism. Foxx has now publicly apologized and denied all allegations.

He wanted to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who felt offended by my post, he explained to his approximately 16.7 million followers in an Instagram post: “I now know that my choice of words upset people and I’m sorry. That was never my intention.” By “they” he didn’t mean the Jewish community, as many had assumed. Foxx’s controversial post has since been deleted, among other things, “CNN” reported.

“To be clear, I was cheated on by a fake boyfriend and that’s what I meant by ‘her,'” Foxx said. “I have only love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. I deeply apologize to anyone I have offended.”

Fellow actress Jennifer Aniston also spoke out about the allegations of anti-Semitism. She had been displayed under the post as one of those who had liked the post. As a result, she too had to take criticism. “This really pisses me off. I didn’t ‘like’ this post intentionally or accidentally,” she wrote on an Instagram story.
