jpnn.comLOMBOK – PT Guarantee Credit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) is collaborating with Rumah Zakat to collaborate on a nutritional garden program to help fulfill community nutrition in Bajur Village, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
Jamkrindo’s Director of Institutions and Services, Abdul Bari, said that the nutritional garden program is very important in building national food security.
“Hopefully this program can help government programs prioritize increasing the availability of access and the quality of food consumption, so that the benefits carried out by Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) can be felt directly in the community,” said Bari.
The program carried out by Jamkrindo and Rumah Zakat involves the active role of village communities, where village communities will receive assistance from the start until harvest, including providing green houses, seeds and other needs.
“The process of implementing nutritional gardens involves the local community from the beginning until the harvest period, so that the knowledge gained can hopefully be shared and continued with the wider community,” said Bari.
Rumah Zakat Chief Program Officer Muhammad Sobirin said that in this program the food grown is melons.
The selection of melons was deemed very appropriate considering the relatively short harvest period for melons, efficient use of limited land and the relatively high price of melons on the market.
“Melons have added value products. Melons can be processed into value-added food and beverage products such as juice, syrup, sweets and food supplements. “This can increase the added value of the product and increase market potential for melon farmers,” he explained.
For the success of the program, Jamkrindo and the zakat house involve various village elements, including hamlet heads, community leaders, posyandu cadres, nutrition cadres.
