She was in front of the camera for the Cologne-based private broadcaster for four years, but now Jana Azizi has announced that she is leaving RTL. A new chapter is about to begin for her.
At the beginning of 2020, Jana Azizi announced her move from the sports channel Sky to RTL. In recent years, she has taken on more and more presentations, hosted “Punkt 12” and “Extra” and most recently appeared in front of the camera for the magazine “Explosiv”. But now the 35-year-old has surprisingly announced her departure.
“It was a great time at RTL and I am so grateful for the many opportunities I had there to express myself as a presenter in so many different formats,” Jana Azizi wrote on Instagram on Tuesday and immediately gave the reason for her decision: “We are emigrating!”
The journalist and her husband Johann Ackermann are heading to Mallorca. “We are packing up camp in Germany and fulfilling a lifelong dream. We simply love this island with all its facets,” Jana Azizi tells her followers. The working conditions there are perfect for her husband, as the sports scientist and former Ironman professional works as a triathlon coach.
In the past few weeks they have prepared and planned everything for “our big step,” says Jana Azizi. The presenter has not yet revealed what her career plans are, but she promised her fans “that there is still a lot to come!” Now she is looking forward to “the adventure of Mallorca and putting down roots there with Johann.”
The two met through sport in 2021. As part of the RTL charity marathon, Jana Azizi trained for a bicycle crossing of the Alps – and received support from Johann Ackermann. The two have been a couple ever since. In December 2022, they announced their engagement, and the wedding followed a few months later.
