Did Janet Sobell, the Ukrainian artist living in Brooklyn, invent dripping before Jackson Pollock? For sure, we know that critic Clement Greenberg stated that the first time he saw the all-over effect was in Sobel’s painting.

This exhibition presents new investigations into this figure, central to abstract expressionism. The exhibition, organized with the artist’s family, shows paintings from the first period along with a significant number of drawings.
