Model and actor Jang Yoon-ju has relocated her family to London after three years of deliberation, supporting her husband Jeong Seung-min as he begins a postgraduate design degree at a university in the British capital.
Jeong spent roughly a year preparing for the transition while maintaining his regular employment, spending his evenings studying online lectures and teaching himself the TOEFL examination to qualify for a master’s programme in London. The move, documented on her YouTube channel in a video titled 3 years of deliberation and Jang Yoon-ju’s family coming to the UK. Please treat us well
, involves their family of three, which includes their daughter, Lisa. The decision centres on her husband’s long-term ambitions to pursue advanced studies in design.
That preparation paid off in December when the acceptance notice arrived. They said it would take three or four months, but the acceptance news came in just one day,
Jeong recalled in the video, visibly moved as he embraced his wife and daughter to celebrate the milestone.
She spent two to three years hesitating, initially suggesting that her husband make the trip alone while she remained in South Korea before deciding to accompany him. While the academic pursuit belongs to her husband, Jang noted that her own desire not to miss a rare window of experience ultimately sealed the family’s choice to move. Reflecting on the timing during her channel broadcast, she explained that she eventually realized if we don’t go now, we won’t be able to go in the future,
prompting her to join him abroad.
Explaining how the vision first took shape, Jang mentioned that roughly three years ago her husband expressed his desire to resume his education. When conversations turned to the logistics of the move, she emphasized that the most important keyword is doing it together.
Jang Yoon-ju Faces Personal Anxieties and Physical Limits
Honestly, I am a bit anxious in various ways,
Jang told her husband before their departure, noting that the arrangement involves frequent travel back to South Korea for professional commitments rather than a permanent disconnection.
I think I am no longer a traveller or a dreamer,
Jang said while discussing her current outlook, adding that she has moved past the era of chasing grand aspirations. I thought that simply being grateful for the work given to me and producing good results was enough.
She added that she no longer holds out excessive expectations for herself as an individual, noting that even if grand plans are absent, she remains young enough and supported by her family to venture far.

Opening up about her emotional state in front of the camera, she paused to ask, Why can’t I rest? What am I so anxious about?
She also noted that conversations with friends often center on a shared sense of lacking energy or specific desires, leading her to remark that she has simply reached that stage of life. When acquaintances and followers suggested that she test the European fashion market with a return to modelling, she demurred. Modelling is work done with the body, and my physical stamina has weakened,
she explained, noting that she lacks the confidence to take on such a challenge right now and prefers to focus on settling into daily life.
Family Settles Into Daily Life in the UK Capital
Their initial days in the city involved routine domestic tasks, including purchasing groceries at a neighbourhood market and walking through their new residential district.

During a separate digital feature with a fashion publisher, Jang revealed she had received romantic overtures from strangers on three separate occasions since arriving, noting that individuals approached her directly even while she was with her child. She also joked about her role as the family member most susceptible to homesickness, mentioning that she occasionally teases her daughter Lisa by telling her if you don’t listen to your mother, we’re going back to Seoul.
The couple, who married in 2015, intend to balance their London routines with ongoing professional responsibilities in Asia. For now, Jang plans to study English and observe whether the new environment eventually sparks a fresh creative drive, while watching her husband’s late-start academic journey as inspiration to determine what she wants to dedicate her focus to over the next decade and beyond. Will her time in London ultimately change her creative path?
