January 6: When a crowd gets excited he tries to steal democracy

The word ‘incitement’ is thrown into the air quite a few times, usually without justification, or with a lack of understanding of the meaning of the term. But exactly a year ago we experienced the great incitement show seen in Western democracies in recent decades.

An American president is facing his fans, whom he has been pumping for months who have no result in the US election as legitimate, other than his victory. After trying for months to prove election fraud in “enough countries to turn the election around” and failing, he tells his supporters to march to the Capitol and fight for the result. “If you do not fight to the bitter end, you will not have a country. I know you will soon march peacefully to the Capitol building and fight for your voice in a patriotic way.”

Shalhav Lots, not a legitimate demonstration

This was not a call for a legitimate demonstration, despite the emphasis on “peace.” Trump made this speech during a huge demonstration by tens of thousands of his most devout supporters in front of the White House, which took place just as Vice President Mike Pence was on his way to approve the electoral votes in the Capitol, a move that would finally block Trump and turn Biden’s victory For official.

Trump has convinced his believers that Lantern can “not approve the electors,” and in effect declare the election in Trump’s favor or disqualify the election. But it was a lie. The role of a flashlight in this ceremony was purely symbolic, similar to the Speaker of the Knesset overseeing a particular event.

When Vice President Pence was unwilling to break the laws of democracy, he suddenly became the enemy of the Trumpists, who began chanting “hang him,” and from there began a march toward the Capitol building where the ceremony took place, in order to stop him from outside.

Take over in minutes

With embarrassing speed, Trump’s supporters took over the Capitol building, a speed that was hardly possible by chance and most of the protesters were black. Security was sparse and inadequate, and post-incident investigations proved it.

The horrific images we all remember, the great American Democratic symbol, ostensibly the torchbearer of democracy in the world (at least in her own eyes), was snatched by supporters of an outgoing president, in a desperate attempt not to acknowledge the loss to the incoming president. The Trumpists have taken over a picture that will remind a world drone of the building and wreaked havoc, with some waving Confederate flags (southern states that retired in the Civil War), and many wearing “restore America to greatness” hats, the slogan of the losing president. At the low point, the crowd even reached the plenum of the House of Representatives, when security crews were even forced to pull out live weapons.

Killed and second dismissal procedure

In the end, this coup attempt was unsuccessful, but 5 people were deprived of their lives. Trump underwent a (further) dismissal procedure, from which he managed to escape days before ending his role in the disgrace of events.

Bottom line, Biden is the president of the United States, but Trump has managed to instill in many people (even in Israel) the conspiracy theory that “he was robbed of the election” and he is still perceived as the leading candidate to run again in 2024. Would you bet he would not succeed To make a comeback?
