Japan confirms its first Monkeypox case

First monkeypox confirmed in Japan A 30-year-old man from Tokyo, the capital, was diagnosed with the disease. He had traveled to Europe at the end of June.
The health department said that the patient is in a hospital in Tokyo and there is no concern about his condition at present. The Department of Health also said that those who suspect the disease can undergo testing at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases or Public Health Institutes.

However, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihiko Isozaki stated that there will be no hasty decision on matters including declaring a health emergency in the country. A task force was appointed to prevent the spread of the disease.

The government had called a meeting to check the possibility of monkey pox outbreak in the country and take necessary measures. Disaster Management Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Takashi Murata said that the task force has been appointed to prevent the spread of the disease. At the same time, monkey pox was declared as a global epidemic by the World Health Organization.
