Strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake hits Japan, no tsunami warning issued
By KVARTHA News

TOKYO – Another powerful earthquake has struck Japan, this time measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). While no tsunami warning has been issued so far, officials are keeping a close watch on the situation.

The earthquake struck the same areas of central Japan that were affected by the devastating 7.5-magnitude earthquake on New Year’s Day. More than 200 people were killed and 100 remain missing following the earlier quake, which also caused widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure on the Noto Peninsula.

Reports have emerged that over 3500 people are still trapped in isolated areas, with heavy snow hampering rescue operations. In response, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has instructed authorities to strengthen rescue efforts and expedite assistance to those in need.

The news of yet another earthquake has left many in Japan on edge, especially in the wake of the previous disaster. While the lack of a tsunami warning provides some relief, the situation remains tense as the country remains on high alert for any further seismic activity.

The JMA and other agencies continue to monitor the situation closely as the people of Japan brace themselves for any potential aftershocks. Our thoughts are with all those affected by these recent events, and we hope for a swift and safe resolution to the ongoing crisis.
