Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Japanese government announced 7 new projects under implementation in Iraq, while noting that its loans granted to Iraq last for 40 years, with a low interest rate of 0.2 percent.

The Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Futoshi Matsumoto, said that Japan, during the past twenty years, presented 30 very large projects in Iraq that were implemented by Japanese companies, indicating that there are 7 new projects under implementation, and if the Iraqi government allocates some funds in its budget for the next year, it will be implemented.

He added that there are two projects for the current year, the first of which is the Basra Refinery Development Project and the second is the water desalination project in Al-Muthanna Governorate, which has a value of more than 300 million dollars, as it is a very important project for development and reconstruction in Samawah.

He stressed that Japan is working to continue its support through financial financing and very soft loans, explaining that the repayment of Japanese loans continues for 40 years and with very little interest of 0.2 percent.
