About 12,000 kilometers of roads require maintenance work in the country, especially the roads that connect the capital to other major cities in the provinces, including the RN2, RN4, RN6, RN7… Through the Jia, the Japanese government will lend a strong hand on the Big Island, in particular by maintaining the road networks.
The 4th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of the Road and Bridge Maintenance Management Capacity Development Project (F3LTM) was held yesterday at ININFRA in Alarobia with Jica. The establishment of a maintenance policy and a maintenance tool is part of this project and the meeting aimed to accelerate the actions necessary to achieve this. This project has existed since 2021. During its first phase, there were data collection and investigations. Its second phase should lead to 8 deliverables.
This 4th meeting approved the draft manuals prepared by the working groups, namely: road inspection and diagnosis manual, road repair manual, bridge inspection and diagnosis manual which will be finalized for a implemented within the framework of the pilot project currently in the preparatory phase.
The current state of the road networks in Madagascar indeed challenges more than one because of their generalized degradation. This situation led the authorities to develop a partnership project to improve the management and maintenance system of roads and bridges in the country.
