/ The Bahraini national team bid farewell to the Asian Cup after losing to its Japanese counterpart 3-1, today, Wednesday, in the round of 16 of the Asian Football Cup, currently being held in Qatar.
The match, which was refereed by Kuwaiti referee Ahmed Al-Ali, took place at 2:30 pm at Al-Thumama Stadium in the capital, Doha.
The first half ended with Japan leading by one goal in the 31st minute through Ritsu Doan.
In the second half, Japan scored a second goal in the 49th minute through player Takefusa Kubo, and Bahrain reduced the score in the 64th minute from an own goal by Japanese player Zion Suzuki, and in the 72nd minute, Japan added a third goal through player Ayase Ueda.
The Japanese national team will meet the winner of the Syria-Iran match scheduled to be held this evening at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
