Japan supports the financing of US$273,562.00 for the execution of two Drinking Water projects

On October 27, 2023, His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan in El Salvador, Mr. ARIYOSHI Katsuhide, together with the distinguished Municipal Mayors, Mr. Roberto Alas of the Municipal Mayor’s Office of San Juan Opico and Mr. Gabriel López of the Municipal Mayor’s Office of Concepción Batres and the representatives of the beneficiary communities, as well as the distinguished Lic. Roberto Villacorta of World Vision El Salvador who supports the project located in Concepción Batres, signed the donation contracts for the execution of two water supply projects
drinking water, which will improve the daily living conditions of approximately 789 inhabitants
and two schools.

The projects are located in the canton of El Castillo, municipality of San Juan Opico, department of La Libertad and in the canton of El Paraisal, municipality of Concepción Batres, department of Usulután respectively, and have the important participation of the inhabitants of the beneficiary communities , represented through the Drinking Water Administration Board of the El Castillo Canton in San Juan Opico and the Community Development Association
The Arenera (ADESCOLA) of Concepción Batres. In both projects to be executed, the problem of water scarcity will be solved, so that all beneficiary families are no longer affected and are free from the daily effort of bringing water to their homes for human consumption and trades.

These projects will be developed under the Non-Refundable Financial Assistance Program for Community Human Security Projects (APCS), of the Embassy of Japan in El Salvador. For more than 30 years, the program has sought to contribute to development in the communities of El Salvador, especially the most vulnerable, through direct financial cooperation to community organizations and local governments, supporting them in their
management of social goods infrastructure projects within the framework of human security.

A total of US$495,325.30 was obtained from the water supply projects, which is
broken down as follows:
