Recently, the number of syphilis patients has been increasing rapidly in Japan. A famous actress also tested positive for syphilis.

Hong Kong media HK01 recently reported that famous Japanese AV actress Ayaka Muto canceled filming after testing positive for syphilis.

According to reports, Muto was tested for sexually transmitted diseases in August of this year and tested positive for syphilis. Afterwards, Muto reported this to his X. Muto said, “I didn’t know I had syphilis because I didn’t feel any symptoms at all. I thought the test might have been wrong, so I went to another hospital, but it ended up being positive.” He said he was under extreme stress due to the fact that he had syphilis, and confessed, “I thought about retiring (as an AV actor),” and “I don’t want to film anymore.” Muto informed his agency that he had syphilis and canceled all filming.

It has been reported that the number of syphilis infections has been increasing in Japan recently. According to Japan’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases on the 8th, the number of reported syphilis infections this year reached 10,766. It is known that Japan recorded the highest incidence of syphilis ever (11,260 cases) last year.

The number of syphilis patients is rapidly increasing in Korea as well. According to data confirmed by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency by Democratic Party lawmaker Seo Mi-hwa, a member of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee, in September this year, the number of syphilis-infected patients between January and August of this year was 1,881. The number of patients as of August this year is 4.5 times higher than the total number of patients last year (416).

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum, a bacterium belonging to the spirochete family.

According to medical information from Seoul National University Hospital, syphilis is mainly spread through sexual intercourse, but there are also cases where it is spread from mother to fetus. The disease is spread through sexual intercourse, but it can cause inflammatory disease in all organs of the body.

Symptoms of primary syphilis are painless skin ulcers. Ulcers are hard, round, small, and painless. These ulcers form where syphilis bacteria enter through skin contact. The most common places it occurs are around the genital area or anus. Painless ulcers last about 3 to 6 weeks and improve naturally without any special treatment. However, if syphilis is not treated, it can progress to secondary syphilis.

Secondary syphilis is characterized by skin rash and mucous membrane pathology. Rashes occur all over the body, especially on the palms and soles of the feet, which is a characteristic symptom of syphilis. In addition to the rash, symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes that do not hurt when pressed, sore throat, headache, weight loss, and muscle pain may also appear.

Symptoms of tertiary or late-onset syphilis are mainly caused by internal organ damage and are caused by syphilis bacteria invading various organs, including the central nervous system, eyes, heart, large blood vessels, liver, bones, and joints.

Stages 1 and 2 of syphilis can be treated with a single intramuscular injection of penicillin. Afterwards, if there is no central nervous system involvement, the rider receives penicillin injections once a week for three weeks.

It is not transmitted through toilets, bathtubs, door handles, or everyday household items used by syphilis patients.
