MOSCOW: Japanese astronauts have returned safely to Earth after a trip to the space station. The trio returned after spending 12 days on the space station.

Fashion tycoon Yusaku Misawa, his builder Yoso Hirano and Russian astronaut Alexander Misurkin have returned to the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. The spacecraft landed at 9.13am, 150 km southeast of the Kazakh city of Chesapeake.

Due to the heavy clouds, huge security measures were put in place for them. The returnees were transferred to the Star City Space Flight Preparation Facility outside Moscow for detailed inspection.

Mizawa, 46, and Hirano, 36, were the first self-employed tourists to visit the space station since 2009. Russian researcher Misurkin’s third spaceflight completed

Mizawa reportedly spent more than $ 80 million on the 12-day trip. He did not say the exact amount but revealed that it was a large sum.

In October, Russian actress Yulia Peresild and film director Klim Shipenko visited the space station and filmed the first film in space.
