Japan’s assurance of continued assistance

On Tuesday (19 August) in his office at the Secretariat, he told the reporters after meeting with the Ambassador of Japan appointed to Dhaka, Aioma Kiminri.

The Finance Advisor said, at the beginning of the discussion, I paid tribute to the Japanese citizens killed in the terrorist attack on Holy Artisan through the Japanese ambassador. Japan is our proven and long-standing development partner. During the discussion with the ambassador, you talked about the overall situation of Bangladesh. He expressed satisfaction that the situation in the country is now stable.

Saleh Uddin Ahmed said, I have asked him for help in ongoing and new projects including budget support. The ambassador said that the issue of budget support is a global issue, it is not possible to say anything about it at the moment. However, ongoing projects will continue to be supported.

The finance advisor said that the ambassador emphasized on reforms in several sectors including banking, NBR. I told him, several steps have already been taken. More initiatives will be taken soon.
