On the occasion of World Democracy Day, BNP’s public meeting will start at 2.30 pm in front of the party’s central office in Naya Paltan of the capital today, Tuesday (September 17). Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman will be joined virtually from London as the chief guest. Party General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will preside.
From 11:30 am on Tuesday, artists of the Nationalist Social Cultural Organization (Jasas) were seen performing cultural performances on the temporary stage constructed in front of the BNP central office. Jasaas convener Helal Khan is leading it.
BNP Standing Committee members and senior leaders will address today’s rally. BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku and Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Member Secretaries Aminul Haque and Tanveer Ahmed Robin will conduct the rally jointly.
On the occasion of the mass meeting, activists from different police stations and wards of Dhaka city are coming to Naya Paltan with a procession.
The rally was supposed to be held in Naya Paltan last Sunday (September 15). However, BNP has postponed the date to September 17 due to inclement weather.
