Jason Roy to be replaced by Afghan opener Gujarat Titans

Gurbas has been named in the Gujarat Titans squad to replace England’s Jason Roy with opener Rahman Rahman. According to CricketBus, the Titans have approached the BCCI for permission to replace the 20 – year – old.

The Afghan, who had a base price of Rs 50 lakh, was sold out in the IPL. Despite being auctioned twice, no franchise brought the player to the team. Meanwhile, Gujarat has auctioned off Jason Roy for a base price of Rs 2 crore.

This is Roy’s second withdrawal from the IPL. Roy was dropped from the Delhi Capitals team in 2020 for a base price of Rs 1.5 crore, but did not play in the IPL due to personal reasons.

The IPL matches will start on March 26. The final will be held on May 29. The inaugural match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 55 matches are in Mumbai and 15 matches are in Pune. 20 matches each at Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium and 15 matches each at Brabourne and Pune MCA International Stadium. The play-offs will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
