Bloemfontein: South Africa won the first ODI against England by 27 runs. Despite opener Jason Roy’s brilliant century, England was losing. Chasing the target of 299 runs set by South Africa, England were bowled out for 271 runs. England were bowled by Antich Norkia who took 4 wickets and Sisanda Magala who took three wickets. England’s top scorer is Jason Rowe who scored 113 runs off 91 balls.

In reply, Jason Roy and David Malan put on 146 runs in the opening. Malan was the first to be dismissed after scoring 59 runs off 55 balls. Ben Duckett (3) and Henry Brooke (0) who came after him were out with Kunhan scores while Jos Buttler (36 off 42 balls), Moeen Ali (11), Sam Curran (17), David Willey (8), Adil Rashid (14) and Jofra Archer (0) and Ollie Stone(1) were the scores of other England players.

Earlier, openers Quinton de Kock scored 37 runs off 41 balls and Themba Bavuma scored 36 runs off 28 balls, but South Africa scored 298 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs thanks to the century of van der Deusen. Vander Deusen scored 111 off 117 balls. David Miller who scored 53 runs also shone. Aiden Markram(13), Henrich Klaasen(30) and Wayne Parnell(2) were the other players to score. With the win, South Africa took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
