Action Star Jason Statham Impresses with Depth

Jason Statham movies have one thing in common: They certainly won’t win an Oscar. But – and this is important – that really doesn’t matter. Because while Statham may not be the actor with the widest range, he is certainly one of the best action stars we currently have. His films never disappoint in terms of tension, chases, or fight scenes.

In particular, the action thriller “Killer Elite” stands out in this regard. Jason Statham shines as a multi-faceted hero of the story, which is filled with exciting twists and political intrigue. Those expecting constant gunfire will be disappointed. “Killer Elite” builds up gradually, showing how plots and plans are forged – the action sequences are somewhat short but still a spectacle.

This is what “Killer Elite” is about

Professional killer Hunter (Robert De Niro) saves Danny (Jason Statham) during an auto convoy. Danny has learned everything he knows from Hunter. However, a year after the incident, he wants out of the murder business. Unlike Hunter, who still wants to make some serious cash and takes a job without knowing who his target actually is. Regardless, six million dollars are promised by his Omani employer. When Hunter discovers that his target is four former members of a British military special unit – including Clive Owen – he wants to back out. But his employer traps him, and now Danny must come out of retirement to finish the job – and save his old mentor.

Fun Fact: The film is based on true events! It is inspired by the book “The Feather Man” by Ranulph Fiennes, who biographically recounts his time in the secret service.
