Javelin throw: Neeraj Chopra creates history by winning silver

OREGON: India’s Neeraj Chopra wins silver medal in javelin at the World Athletics Championships.

In the final round of the event in Eugene, Oregon, USA, he finished second with a throw of 88.13 meters.

This is India’s first medal in the World Track and Field Championships since 2003.

In 2003, Indian athlete Anju George won bronze in the women’s long jump category.

Also, this is the second medal for India in the history of World Athletics Championships.

Defending champion Anderson Peters of Grenada threw the javelin 90.54m to win the gold.

Jakub Watledge of Czech Republic won the bronze with a throw of 88.09m.

Rohit Yadav, another Indian player in the finals, finished tenth
