The candidates Javier Miley e Sergio Massa face each other in a final debate this Sunday, the 12th, before the second round of elections on November 19th. O Brazil was not left out of the discussion agenda among Argentines. The Peronist and current Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, stated that breaking the dialogue with the China and Brazil could harm the supply and jobs for Argentines by 2 million fewer jobs and 28 billion dollars less. The minister’s speech is a criticism of the statement made by his opponent, as shown on the Jovem Pan website, where he stated in an interview that, if elected, he will not have institutional relations with President Lula. Milei countered Massa’s speech, highlighting that president “Alberto Fernández also did not speak to Bolsonaro”. He also added that the statements about the break with Brazil and China are false and that “it is a private market issue and the State has no reason to get involved, because every time it gets involved it generates corruption”. The ultraliberal candidate also mentioned that Brazilian advertisers, who worked on Lula’s campaign, were hired to reinforce Massa’s campaign since the primary elections and that the videos are edited to run a ‘negative campaign’ against him. In the first round, Sergio Massa won with 36.68% against 29.98% for Javier Milei. The debate involves topics such as Economy, Education, Health, Democracy and International Relations.
